Big "E" is packing in the money before any production. Just hope he doesn't die or leave town or there will be a lot lose their money.
Just like the lotto, you may win but you may not.
If the price would stay at what was advertised it would be a great buy but I don't look for that to happen.
Just like the Segway, advertised at one price but kept going up. I had two of the throw-a-ways.

Does anyone have a real date for production and delivery? This product seems great but everytime the date get "pushed back" it seems all that's being sold is expensive T-shirts.

There's not much to this thing and if it takes another two years - I can build my own, there's alot of honda motors & trannys out there..
Feel free to do so; the rest of us will wait.

I appreciate all the comments, especially Wahlberg. However owning a 1969 Ford for too many years - sad to say I've developed many skills that I never imagined that I'd know at this age.. Cool thing about NASCAR is they have dimension rules and this vehicle won't exceed 750Hp (torque does wonders to a frame) so the basics of frame construction is the "easy" part - it's more difficult for the skin (outer shell).

Patience isn't the real concern - Ford, GM, & Chrysler they are the concern. First to market is always the pace setter. A little known fact Ford registered the Falcon name mere hours before GM and the Falcon was the first Mustang (frame and drive line)

What Paul has done is identify a market and a true niche. The big 3 are paying attention and they have the resources to make this a posibility. If they chose this option they could place a demand on the market for materials which could (more than likely based from greed) raise the price of the raw materials to create the Elio.

People got to think big picture and what really exist - the Elio could put a hurt serious hurt in the used car market. The "and" car concept will allow the "weekend or pride car" to remain at home while the "and" car is the primary driven vehicle (motorcycle or car - still will exceed)

"Pride" car stays newer longer, more used cars on the market equals less new car sales..

Remember 1976 US automakers were still producing big cars with terrible fuel milage and then there was this little Honda Cvcc.. Then 1982... As Paul Harvey would say "The rest of the story"..
Joe makes interesting points. The big three historically have not so much responded to public demand than to shape demand to fit the products that are most profitable. This began to change with introduction of smaller American cars to compete with growing share of imports. The big boys might indeed take steps to disrupt development of the Elio, but they would have to be mindful of criminal sanctions and civil compensation if their activities violate laws and regs on fair trade practices. It would be hard to launch a conspiracy of this scale without documenting anything that could be uncovered as part of a discovery process.

I don't sweat the big three that much they have been pretty much raked over the coals lately by Uncle Sam.
The imports probably won't stand by and just watch.
But if the media decides its a good idea NO ONE will stop it.
Back on topic. I think we will have the first ones in are hands first of December 2015.

They want profit and low risk. So they'll wait to see how the first and maybe second year of Elio Sales goes. What they will be looking at is the expectation of Elio longevity though the business model they have. Nobody will make a move until they know that estimate. It will take less time for a offshore competitor, but the shipping on such a low product price is a big-big deterrent. So we have about two years, starting from mid-September. Just my half-a%^&... guess.

My concern is this actually going to happen. This was tried in the 70's with a 3 wheeler. The person that started the company collected a lot of money and then disappeared, but was eventually arrested. It all sounds too good to be true. There has been 1000's of car companies since the 1890's that were organized to produce cars. Some just produced prototypes to sell the idea and went bust. Some produced 50 to be qualified as car company then went bust. I would purchased one, but will wait until they are made. Then go to the sales place with cash and come out with one. I'm not going to front the money with no guarantees. we all remember the HUGO.

The HUGO ok Yugo was a Fiat built in Yugoslavia (which the Russians somehow messed up..) My friend Fiat at one time was the parent company of many manufacturers like Ferrari.. Elio has to get something to market first, the big 3 have hurt many of small time inventors..

Hi Jjtjr, welcome to the forum! Yes, many of us share your concern, "is it going to happen". But, many of us have done enough research, have enough real-world pain and experience, to have faith that the risk is well worth the reward.

You are very welcome to wait until they are made. You should do what's best for you. Best estimate is Sept 2016 when you can go to a sales place and buy one with cash.
