I think their programming is not ready for the Elio.

I'm paying $134 and change a year to insure two motorcycles. Liability, Pedestrian, Uninsured and Underinsured. No collision.
Good record but lousy credit. It would be interesting to ask a live person why your quote is that rediculous.

This is exactly my guess also. They have it in their system however they likely just have some default values in there that will change after they review whatever information Elio Motors makes available to the insurance companies. My guess is the information EM will submit to insurance companies will include the crash testing reports from the independent crash testing lab or labs, a detailed description of all the on board safety systems, a parts lists for repair cost estimating, retail pricing information, and anything else which would be relevant to an insurance company.

My wife used to be an agent. She told me that unless a "caller" could give the VIN number, she could not give an accurate quote.

Underwriters simply do not have the needed data for now. Collector cars suffer the same type dilemma. I suggest you contact your agent and ask for the rates on a collector car. This policy premium is based on your stated value but any loses are payable only upon the appraised value at the time of the claim. The appraised value is established by the stated value of a reputable dealer or collector;s club. Last I checked the cost is comparable to traditional auto rates. In truth the Elio is a collector's car.

That is something to check out. Please read the "fine print" tho, as some policies severely limit the "miles driven annually" on a collector vehicle.
I remember seeing "on the news" how the very first Prius owners were having trouble getting their "emissions certification" because every car was to be tested "at idoI", which the Prius doesn't do! The laws were "amended" pretty quickly.
I think we just need to be patient and let EM do its thing.
