I am really close to putting down some money and reserving a spot in line. My concern is from the Ohio BMV page: http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/faq_three_wheel.stm

According to this and what I've seen elsewhere, the Elio will be classified as a motorcycle, and thus require a corresponding license endorsement for 3 wheeled vehicles (and wear a helmet?). Does anyone have more current or detailed information than that link?

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME BRIAN ARTHUR IN LAKE MILTON !!! We are neighbors !!! We have quite a few of us close by now. I know we had a bill passed that was OK but didn't go into effect till Jan 2017 and it didn't cover the passenger, just the operator, lol. I spoke to the legal guy in Columbus when the Elio was in town and he said they are going to get it added on an bill soon to address both helmet and licensing. It won't be long till we hear some good new on this, I am sure of it. I am betting on it. Got two in reserve #1685 and #5648. I live off of Rt 534.

Great News From Joe Sheltrown
Hi Lilly,

I hadn’t heard from Senator Seitz office yet.. So I called this AM. His legislative aide said she would ask the Senator what bill he was looking at to amend.. if he has gotten that far yet. She said she would get back to me. Later in the week, probably Friday , if I haven’t heard I will call again.

The language I furnished would cover license and helmets exemptions.. for operator and passengers. Best regards, Joel

More News from Joel Sheltrown;

Hi Lilly,

Just got off the phone with Senator Seitz’s office. They are drafting a stand alone bill to eliminate helmets and endorsements for the Elio(which will cover operators and passengers). They will put “autocycle” in definition. They also will prepare an amendment that can be inserted in a bill in process which will do the same thing.. have the same language. The reason being is to have to pathways to get this done quickly. We are hoping to have it done by the end of this year.

Please pass on to your Ohio Elio Group

Best regards,

Joel

More from Joel dated July 16th;

Thank you. Senator Seitz is a go getter. Doesn't mess around. We should be good. However at some point I will be asking your Ohio group to write an appreciation email. :). Joel

So Gang, It looks good. If anybody is sitting on 'the fence' because of Ohio Laws it might be time to jump off. And when Joel says too, lets all write Thank You notes to both him and this senator.
