Do you think they will have a staging area to put on you accessories at the plant in Shreveport?
Because the option to pic up you car there, for me, depends on wheather I can get it with all the goodies on it.

It would be logical to assume that the factory complex would also include a full fledged distribution/finishing center where options are installed in preparation for retail delivery. I believe it is even highly likely that the distribution center within the factory complex will be the only one for at least a few months. I doubt Elio Motors will open retail stores and additional distributions centers until they are close to being able to deliver vehicles to end customer which will not happen until after they work through the backlog of existing reservations.

I hope you're right. I only live about 200 miles from Shreveport so hopefully I will be able to pickup at the factory with the destination charge waived. Being retired and on a fixed income every penny counts. I personally think it would be advantageous to have a Elio store setup at the factory.
Elio Motors recently revealed a 'plan' to have 7 'regional hubs' where OPTIONS will be installed 'overnight'...... then shipped to the Elio Stores.... the next day! One of these 'HUBS' could be at the Shreveport factory (seems logical).

At Fair Park in Dallas Jerome was pretty adamant the charge would be $750.00. Don't ever forget Jerome was a car salesman for years so the story might change with each customer! He knows all the tricks of the trade. If you can't blind them with brilliance, dazzle them with bullshit.
I guess we will know when we know.:)

I firmly agree with everything Goffy has stated here, why open retail centers if they have nothing to sell. If they just get the early buyers on the road, the sales would Explode.
All I would like to have or want to have is a Beautiful sunny day when I pick mine up. What I would HAVE to have is a picture of the bright sun shine on my Creamcycle Elio, my hand on the door handle, with the bill of sale in my pocket, then get in and ride the 600 miles back home or maybe go to Key West and turn North to West Georgia.
I hope they have a souvenir shop at the plant, like Harley does, for just the ones that do the pick up, I want a 'T' shirt that states something like, 'I Survived the Wait for My Elio without Going Nuts' or 'People thought I was Nuts, but I got mine', or 'Yep!, it's an Elio'.

based on the wheelbase and the fact you could 'nest' them front to back on a truck, the delivery price should be halved...
The front track is at least 60", more like 65". How are you going to "nest" two of those in an 8.5 foot wide vehicle? Even with a skinny rear, I still don't see how it could be done.

Not to scale but you get the idea.

Unfortunately, scale is the essence of the problem. Not to mention the "bustle" extending past the rear wheel. You do raise a really interesting point, though: how would Elios fit onto a standard car carrier, which has two rails and no center bed for the upper deck? Initially, this wouldn't be a particular problem -- flat beds would work -- but when the volume comes up, greater capacity (i.e., double decker) transport will be needed. Otherwise the shipping cost WILL be about $750!

If you look at the photo of the P3 on RT66 on the Elio site, it give you a really good idea how much room you'd have to "nest" two cars in the right-hand lane -- because the truck is less than one lane wide, so you'd have to do it in that space.

My plan is my 17 year old son and I to fly to Shreveport, pick up the Elio and have a cool road trip back to Maryland. I was going to ask my girlfriend, then realized not even her cosmetic case would fit in the trunk, much less everything else she would have to pack. With my son and I we can pack everything we both need for a 3 day trip in a plastic grocery bag.
