Hello Booboo,

While drivers are currently enjoying lower fuel prices, it was only a few short years ago that gas prices reached the highest national average in history, at a whopping $3.60. Gas prices have come back down to earth, but for how long, no one knows. The Elio represents a good insurance policy against the inevitable rise of gas prices.

Green for your wallet

Even during times of relatively low gas prices, the Elio offers significant savings over other vehicles on the road.

Consider this: According to the Department of Transportation, the average American drives approximately 13,500 miles per year. Let’s say that the average car on the road gets 18 MPG and gas prices stay steady at $2.50 a gallon.

Driving 13,500 miles in an average vehicle will cost $1,875 in gas.

Driving the same amount of miles in an Elio will cost $401 in gas.

The Elio can save the average American about $1,474 a year.

Green for the planet

Not only is the Elio beneficial to your wallet, it is just as friendly to the environment. Burning less gas in an Elio will emit far fewer pollutants into the atmosphere than the average vehicle on the road today. At peak production capacity, driving Elios can save nearly 3.5 billion gallons of gasoline per year, reducing harmful CO2 emissions by more than 69 billion pounds.

Hidden Benefits

Using less gasoline in an Elio can have a positive effect on the economy and the country as a whole. Fewer stops at the pump results in less dependence on foreign oil, which helps to reverse the trade deficit. Additionally, buying an American made vehicle means fewer resources are used in transporting the vehicle when compared to an imported car.

A Sensible Solution

Alternative energy vehicles may be the solution to our transportation needs in the future, but the lack of existing infrastructure and exorbitant prices make them unattainable for most Americans. With such incredible fuel economy, the Elio offers a sensible alternative that is environmentally friendly and can add some extra green to your bank account.

Currently, just 2.5 miles each way. Once we break ground on the brewery (next month), it'll go up to 16 miles each way.

My Abarth would probably get me about 25 MPG on that drive. If the Elio gets 60 (thinking conservatively), that would save me about $70 a month.
