OK, I admit that I choose to stay blissfully ignorant of many of the intricacies of EVs simply because I like gas powered vehicles. Add to that the many conversations about battery replacement costs and range anxiety and I found that the articles I posted above seemed to support what I've been hearing as well as continue to enforce the notion in my brain that I'm all gas all the way.

Additionally, given the information from the autoblog article I'm having trouble understanding johnsownw response:

The article talks clearly about how early leaf and tesla vehicles had significant issues with degradation including lawsuits. Did Nissan and Tesla not use Li-Ion technologies and have since changed to Li-Ion such that this is no longer a problem?

Nissan opted to not cool their batteries, which caused the premature degradation.

As for Tesla, there has not been widespread degradation issues...even the one mentioned in the article you cited was a misunderstanding of the amount, and also related to an issue at the pack level, not cell level.

I had issue with range and the high cost of EV's. Battery tech has improved to increase range and charge times to an acceptable level while lowering cost. I have reservation deposits on three EV concepts and eager to give electric a go. I appreciate reading sethodine's personal EV experiences. Obviously, EV's will not meet everybody's needs, but on a positive note saves more fossil fuel for your ICE of choice. I choose to own both in the very near future. I don't think anybody is trying to hard sell EV's.

The primary reason I haven't purchased a used EV is that lack of styling........they all seem to look odd........exception the Tesla's and they were out of my price range up until the Model 3. 300,000 Model three pre-orders to date.

I am not sold on the EV concept yet . The EVcurrent price is telling me that there is still a glitch in the Matrix.
If I was a millionaire I would own a P100D , and move to a new Musky neighborhood.

Without government money Solarcity would have gone under years ago. They had a net loss of $375 million on a total revenue of $176 million last year, not a good sign.

I don't get how people are angry that we subsidize solar panel companies, but are perfectly fine with the crazy subsidies that oil companies get.

Who said I was fine with subsidizing anyone. I think the government should not be paying for any of this. If you cannot prove that it is a feasible business it should not be one.

Sorry if you thought I meant you. Just making an observation.

Apparently you oppose the government subsidizing Elio Motors with the low interest ATVM loan.........that's sad. I think the option of EM's government loan has merit providing there is validation they can repay the loan with interest.
