I think he means numbers 2, 3 and 4 of the 23 Es. Looking forward to hear about the Ss as well. I wonder if those will have an equally confusing numbering scheme?

I'm betting they are being built in series based on what equipment they will be built with, for testing.
Thus, E1A, E1B, E1C, and E1D will all be identical (except perhaps the paint color). Identical drive components, Body panel material, ABS settings, etc. Remember, only the frame and key drivetrain elements are truely "set in stone".
After that, we'll get an E2 series for certain other tests, followed by an E3 series for other tests, and so on. Mind you, this is only a theory.
