There is a mounting problem with utilizing your smartphone for too many functions while driving. Bouncing back and forth between my Pandora app and my nav screen is difficult enough underway, but phone and text functions aside, serving as a backup camera, tire pressure monitor, OBD reader, and cabin intercom is going to require that it be operated by my backseater. Otherwise we get into a situation known as "helmet fire" where too many sub-critical operations are being performed by the pilot to allow him to properly concentrate on the deadly stuff that's going on beyond the windshield.

The second problem is that, based on the radio's location, all that extra stuff is going to be going on down around your right kneecap - not the optimal position for reading, much less controlling and switching between these functions. A less-than-billiard-table-smooth road only adds to the degree of difficulty when trying to stab the proper icon on a touch screen (not to mention a small one at that). "Sorry officer, I was just contemplating my navel . . . "
Depending on how Skyz is programmed, they could utilize overlay options for programs while keeping Skyz on the screen.

I think someone addressed this but I can't remember. In the My Elio Configurator, with each selection you go up, the bottom one(s) are added to it, correct? So if I wanted the Power Subwoofer with Thunderform, I would get the Enhanced Removable Stereo with USB Connectivity and Thunder35 Enhanced Speaker, correct?

They are each separate pieces.
If you buy the powers subwoofer, you get the subwoofer to connect to the stock radio.
If you buy the enhanced speakers, you get the enhanced speakers only; attached to the stock radio.
Same with the better stereo, you buy it, you get it with the stock speakers.

That sucks. I can't believe the subwoofer is $600. That's pretty ridiculous.

The configurator makes it sound like each piece is purchased separately.

However there was a survey taken by EM that makes it sound like a purchase of one item included all the "subordinate" items. This is a contradiction.

Perhaps someone saved that survey and can print it.

It's $600 because it's a custom made box, with it's own amp and speaker.
and figure in the price markups EM said they were doing.
Do a search on Thunderbox, and look at their retail prices on subs for other vehicles.
They are very proud of their equipment and charge accordingly.

It is not possible to say if it is ridiculous or not, IMHO. There is inherent value in the "factory installed" part, but absent any relevant specifications such as measured frequency response ( -3dB @ 25 Hz would be the minimum acceptable, with an amplifier capable of at least 80 watts RMS @ 20 - 250 Hz with less than 0.1% THD while driving the rated speaker load) it is not possible to determine if it is a quality unit or overpriced rubbish. I would like to see similarly comprehensive specifications on the stock and upgraded main speakers - if 80 - 20kHz is all that can be supplied, much better kit can be had for less aftermarket.
What I really want to know is where the sub will be mounted.

It was also mentioned once that the sub would also come with two extra speakers, so five total instead of the stock two. That would explain the odd wording of "25 x 2 full range output" in the description text. If those are rear speakers, I would assume they are molded into the same housing as the sub. Since it has not been mentioned again, that could have just been speculation, but I hope not.

Definitely curious to see where they mount the sub. I assume it will be in the trunk.
