Ubuntu is probably the best choice for ease of use and user friendliness.

I manage about 200 scientific linux desktops and servers at work and use fedora for my own machines, but I would not recommend either SL or Fedora for a first time user.

Nahh, remember when people used to ask about something on a Windows machine; and it would turn to a Mac vs. Win argument?
And how Mac's never got viruses; that was until someone got tired of hearing the argument and unleashed a bunch of them just for Mac?
Lately when someone talks about Win, the Lynx vs. Win argument pops up.
It's not off in the weeds; it took it's normal computer OS shouting match and set up camp in the middle of the freeway.

Cool and very dangerous. No protection and hard to see -- too low to the ground. Not me, pal -- and I ride a recumbent, so have grounds to comment.
I can see folks in the 'Villages' really
going for it! :pop2:

That's why I mentioned Win7, very stable, still has support, drivers for everything built in, a large number of Businesses still use it, and plan to continue using for a few more years.
Vista is a "dead" OS; what that means is that they no longer do security patches and updates.
You will reach a point in the very near future that any programs you want to use, upgrade or try will not run on that OS.
My company is still using 7 with no plans to change.

I haven't really been staying regularly up to date with this Elio stuff. I went 'all in' at $250 around December, however the notification of the 50% bonus offer expiring and the notification of new position numbers being assigned in a couple weeks, combined with checking updates and it seems like things are progressing, decided to upgrade 'all in' at $1000.

Anyway, obviously I caught notice of the neat web customization thing. A lot of those new special colors seem like they'd be quite stunning, though it's too bad I feel asking to see all the colors in person would be too much to ask lol. As others have mentioned, android app for the infinite skyz things would be neat, though I'm not entirely clear of the value added for $2000 + cost of gear that runs apps. Considering that just having the android phone and a mount will already provide you with a GPS and many other things. Guess if you really want that 360 degree camera setup.

One thing I have noticed is when picking carpet colors, the interior roof color also changes but in this 3d model it looks bad. Maybe the color coordinated roof would look better in person, but the other car accents are still black. Seems to be no way to keep the roof black with a colored carpet. Keeping it all black inside seems to create the most streamlined appearance for the 3d model.

I'm also curious where the subwoofer option goes. under the front seat? In the tiny trunk? Hopefully not to consume the back seat. I think I'd probably want it, with the upgraded speakers, but don't want it to affect the cars usefulness.

The retro wheels + fender look really nice. I hadn't really considered it, but seeing it on the 3d model it's very tempting, even for the price jump.

My current build seems to be at around $9,710.90, or $11,185.90 with one of the special orange-red colors that looks good on my browser and monitor (would love real samples though). Fun stuff. Pretty exciting. I also definitely would like some leather seat action and cruise control, along with fender lights, and more details as to what is included with the stock radio (usb with intuitive navigation interface?).

Congrats on your upgrade to $1K

Remember folks, this configurator is like the "beta" stage, probably even "alpha" stage of a development cycle. Software companies do this all the time, especially game developers. There are several reasons to put this out. They want to keep interest going in new ways, they want to "use" us as free testers for the software and the website, and get an early gauge of interest in various items and options. Among other likely reasons.

The site and options and pricing will all change (probably many times) between now and when they call it officially released for use.

So just have fun with it, don't take things on it too seriously! :)

So as you can see; there are a lot of things we don't have answers for, just best guesses.
