Powertrain Control Module. It's a combined ECM (engine control module) and TCM (transmission control module), which is probably linked to a separate BCM (body control module).

As an engineer I understand why all of these computers are necessary to get the best performance/efficiency, but I still loathe them when something goes wrong.

Why use all the acronyms. Just use proper terminology and it is easier.

The doodad controls the watchamacallit activating the thingamajig. This results in the doohickey working with the thingamabob and gizmo and coordinating the widget.

The result is a perfectly happy contraption.

We had a piece of equipment at my 1st duty station in the Air Force called the Format Message Composer (almost pre-computer days). We, who maintained the thing, called it the F'ing Magical Contraption. It was hooked up to a IBM Selectric that was boondoggled to a rack of electromechanical interface cards on the back that converted the mechanicals into electrical signals and then into analog data for magnetic 35mm tape. What a fun piece of crap that was. Almost as much fun as the Electro-Writers used between the Control Tower and the Command Post.

Does it have a OBD2 plug under the dash?
They have already acknowledged that the Elio will have an OBDII outlet in the production model.
If the P5/E1 has one or not doesn't make it the fixed design for the production models.
So don't worry Eliodigger, it will have your plug in the vehicle.
