There's so much negativity on Elio floating around out there but if you check into those claims a little closer you'll likely find the people making the claims really know very little about the Elio. I'm all in for 1K #2983 and I'm retired on a fixed income. But if for that amount I can help to create American enterprise and jobs then I figure the Elio is worth the risk. Not to mention that I'm really enthusiastic about the concept. Sure, it's a gamble but how many sure investments are out there today? I figure if Elio can make it into production and hit the road that sales will sky-rocket. Then again, if they only produce the Elio for a couple years the value of the vehicle will most likely increase substantially. Just my 2 cents.

Robert, welcome to the forum. I agree with your comments about the Elio and know that we have done our part to make this historical vehicle a reality. I like it for all the reasons you do and I while there is no guarantee, I am confident I will be driving mine before Christmas 2015. Welcome and lets enjoy the Elio experience together.

Lots of good things have already been said here. Here's my take. The only way I would actually be mad is if I found out it was a scam. If it doesn't make it to production because of finances or logistics I will be disappointed, but not mad. When I put my money down (all in $1000) I knew the risk going in. While I have every bit of faith in Paul and the rest of the company, I know there is that risk. With everything they have done and all the lobbying they have done to get laws changed in regards to motorcycle endorsment and helmets, I find it hard to beleive its a scam. That's a lot of work being done

Anyway, here's my take: society today is driven by "I deserve to have what I want when I want it." So when a company like Elio advertises a new vehicle, most folks think it's available right now. Granted all marketing is deceptive to some degree, but when people hear about this, they want to go get one. Next, they are frustrated (some highly) when they learn it's not being made until a target of Sept 2015. Their next thought is that the Elio is a scam. I could go on, but my point is: with the Elio, you either have faith it's going to be made, or you don't.

You can support that faith by doing research before you put money down. If you have faith and you want one, put down some non-refundable money and you'll get yours sooner than most. If you don't have faith and you want one, put down refundable money that you can afford, and you'll get yours after everyone that's put down non-ref money.

If you don't have faith and you don't want one, well you probably are not reading this forum. lol

I first saw the Elio on my Facebook newsfeed 10 days ago and have been watching it ever since. I almost put in a $100 non-refundable deposit the first day, but then read the details about the different levels of reservation. All of a sudden, it sounded like a scam.

I read more about the Elio online and discovered this forum. There's a lot of good debate here. One thing that concerns me is the high-level of faith of those who put in $1,000 to get in line. Many do not sound like people who can afford to lose their investment/wager. Will they all riot and sue if Elio folds and takes their money with them? Or, will they accept their loss and continue to support the Elio company -- "they had good intentions, did their best, but couldn't bring the car to reality"?

I'm a $1,000 "all-in" guy. I'm very excited about this journey, but, no doubt, want it to end in me driving an Elio. I don't want to be taken advantage of!!

Aside from buying into the entire concept of Elio Motors, it was a risk I took on a belief of a product being made in USA which are a few and far apart. Everything else is secondary thereafter.

If at the end you loose, consider it one of your unnecessary expenses that you gambled on....at least you followed and support an American idea (which I strongly believe will materialize).

I am not rich by any means, but just believe on the idea. All in for 1k(#1987)!and will never regret my decision...just waiting to get it into my garage.

I just can't for the life of me, commit to a non-refundable deposit on a new vehicle type from a new company. What's to say the company won't run into some type of brick wall they can't get around and they end up folding before they even get started? What's to say there aren't going to be many, many problems with this new vehicle type with a new un-time tested engine and driveline components? That's just the vehicle...with so many people already on the waiting list, it's going to take years for the company to be able to meet demand for just those people...think about how long someone is going to have to wait to get one if they're not on the list. The only way they get around this is if they have an automotive industry type of assembly line set up to build these things. Like many others, this vehicle is very intriguing to me, but I can't help but to think about how this company will get around and/or over the typical hurdles that all new businesses have to deal with.

I for one hope it goes over but I've been in business and $6800.00 is nothing today. I will get one as soon I see they are being produced at that price.
I really don't think he could get that car made in China for that price. But one thing for sure the production line workers won't be making what GM working make.....$25 plus an hour with benefits.
OH, and Louisiana has been listed as one of USA's crooked political run states. Don't let the politics in on it.
